Why Should teachers incorporate videogames in their curriculum?
Teachers should teach up and coming technology and students want to learn about new advancements. Schools want educators to be experienced with new technologies, so why not videogames? Most students enjoy videogames, and plenty of us enjoy mobile games on our smartphones. Artists help create these games. Since artists help create videogames, we should introduce this form of creating art in the art classroom.
Not only should we incorporate videogame design in the art classroom since artists work to create videogames, we should incorporate videogames in our curriculums since children become engaged in videogames. Instead of prohibiting an area that provides critical thinking and creativity, we should be embracing it. Creating videogames using Scratch (or other freeware) is an augmentation that allows us to create games with free software. This is perfect for students to begin tinkering with creating videogames without having to spend a fortune on software. Freeware such as Scratch augments the ability to grasp coding with an easy-to-follow format. "The common perception of video gaming is one of arcade-style entertainment, and as such, it is difficult for many people to appreciate games' educational potential. However, it is important to consider several key facts. Video games are ubiquitous in popular culture. They have been the entrée for many into basic skills in reading and mathematics through drill-and-practice educational software such as ReaderRabbit and Math Blaster (Selfe and Hawisher 2004; Young, Schrader, and Zheng, forthcoming). Globally, the sale of video games generated $9.4 billion in 2001 (Rhyne 2002). The MMOG genre alone amounted to approximately $1 billion in revenue in 2003 (DFC 2004). Moreover, video game play accounts for a significant proportion of recreational time (Jones et al. 2003). "

I am huge fan of Dungeon's and Dragons, so naturally, I wanted to create my character in a videogame. In Dungeons and Dragons, I play as a Drow Necromancer. Magic Missile is a powerful spell, so I chose that as the spell that can be cast in my game.
I have been greatly influenced by videogames such as the Castlevania series and the Final Fantasy series. All the art in this game has been created by me. This includes the sound effects, sprites, and images.
